The Unbreakable Bug Fix In POE 3.21 - Full Evasion Juggernaut?

Apr 15, 2023

We’re talking about a bug fix and this is a pretty interesting one because I think a lot of people had assumed that this wasn’t a bug.

In the patch notes here, we’ve got a bug fix to the Juggernaut’s Unbreakable node. This was a bug that came in the Crucible patch and essentially what was happening was the body armor being doubled stat was applying incorrectly. It was instead providing a 100% increase and obviously that’s incorrect because it should be doubling the flat armor, which can then be benefited from any kind of increases or more armor values that you have.

POE patch notes

Anyway, that’s been fixed now, so it’s now correctly providing the double armor from your body armor. But, here’s this bug fix that comes right underneath this and it says “fixed a bug where armor from equipped body armor is doubled stat was not doubling evasion from your body armor when the iron reflexes Keystone passive skill was allocated”.

Now, I think most people thought this wasn’t a bug and that it was just working as intended. It’s been this way for a long time and it just makes sense if your body armor has evasion, then it’s not armor. So, it doesn’t benefit from the stat armor from equipped body armor is doubled.

But apparently, that’s not the case, and this was a bug and this is really interesting because it now enables Juggernaut to play in a way where you don’t lose efficiency from taking Unbreakable when using evasion-based body armor.

Now, I think previously what would happen here is you’d lose a huge amount of armor in comparison to using a pure armor, piece of body armor rather than using evasion and now you don’t have that loss, which means it opens up a lot of interesting avenues here.

The most obvious use case is going to be a rare evasion or hybrid evasion armor body armor because you will no longer use any efficiency scaling from using these pieces now, which means that you can now roll into spell suppression without losing any of the armor. That makes Juggernaut even stronger defensively, and it means the Juggernauts are going to be able to pass over to the right-hand side of the tree. You maybe use all evasion gear. You could just use every single piece could be evasion based and you’re still going to gain massive amounts of armor.

So, the interesting thing here is obviously that you’ll be able to use those rare pieces of gear, but there are some pretty interesting unique body armors to look at. And I’ve picked out a few here that are more obvious, but there are some interesting combinations.

POE Hyrris Ire

First of all, we’ve got Hyrris Ire, which is a very high evasion based body armor on a high roll goes over 3k here and this one’s pretty cool because it gives you a massive flat amount of cold damage for bow attacks. Obviously, Bow Juggernaut isn’t really too much of a thing that we see very often and that’s potentially a build that you could go into having a huge amount of spell suppression here. And you can make use of the new Mastery that gives you 15% increased life with no life modifiers on your body armor because this one has no life modifiers. So, that’s pretty cool.

There’s also Duresso’s Defiance. Now, this is a hybrid armor and evasion body armor, which has over 3,000 combined armor Innovation on a high roll and of course Juggernaut is going to be able to double all of that and this has a pretty interesting mechanic in combination with the Juggernaut because the Juggernaut having incredible endurance charge generation.

POE Duresso's Defiance

Whenever you get hit, you gain Onslaught and there’s a huge amount of Onslaught effect on it. It’s going to make your own slot really powerful and you can essentially bypass the downside of this body armor, which is the losing all endurance charges when you get hit by just gaining minimum charges. So, you can gain minimum charges on your rings. You can gain one on the passive tree and that’s a pretty strong combination there as well.

Then, there’s also Shadowstitch, and this is a corrupted body armor that you can get. This provides a massive amount of armor and evasion and even some energy shield, too. This can go really high if you get lucky on a high roll, but it’s quite expensive or difficult depending on if you’re playing trade league or SSF. It’s difficult and also, you should spend lots of POE Currency to get one that’s going to be good for your build. You can make a bit of use of Tainted Chromatic Orbs there to try and get the correct socket colors.

POE Shadowstitch

But obviously, if the implicits are not very good or if it’s a low roll, you’re going to want to try again with that and you can get this from double corrupting a Sacrificial Garb at the Tier 3 corruption room in the Alva Temple. And the Sacrificial Garb can be acquired from Atziri. It’s a pretty common drop.

These are just a few unique items that you could use. There’s others that you can use as well. There’s like Carcass Jack, which is pretty interesting. You can get a bit more armor from that as well. If you’re using iron reflexes, take a look at the list there of unique armors that you can make a better use of now on Juggernaut.

POE Carcass Jack

And I think regarding this is a really interesting change because it allows Juggernaut to essentially just go all in on evasion gear without losing any efficiency on that armor conversion when you’re using iron reflexes. And it means you can just pass right over to the right side of the tree and that opens up some interesting build potential on Juggernaut.

As Juggernaut right now is probably one of the tankiest classes in the game alongside a sort of Champion and those sorts of things when you respect into a lot. This just means that you can play more builds. That’s a fun mechanic to play around with and I think it’s nice that you can go down that route and you know that you’re not losing any efficiency on your gear just by taking this Keystone. So, that’s a really nice change.
