POE 3.20: Tips For Leveling Your Build In Gautlet

Feb 13, 2023

Famous Path of Exile streamer, Zizaran is hosting another one of the hottest events in PoE and that is the Gauntlet. If you are casually waiting to participate, get ready to get your ass wiped out by from a Crab, Brutus, from Act 1 or just everything.

In my experience, playing this event three years ago was an impossible thing. But over time and experience with the game, I learned a lot in my last Gauntlet, which was incentive league. It was the best and fun experience by far because I made several characters to level 80 to 90 as if it was like a regular trade league.

Did you know that you could use stuff like Decoy Totems when you engage with bosses like Brutus to safely engage with a range skill or did you know that before you enter The Coast after the Hillock, you need to have three essential gears, such as the body armor, a chain belt and a Coral Ring?

I'm sure you already know that when you engage Hillock as a Melee character. You should always kite in the opposite direction, where he is holding a sword. That is the side where he is empty-handed or how about the importance of Quicksilver Flask or flask Tidal Island.

In Gauntlet, you should have at least two of them to start because you will get chased by a legion of hasted monsters. I bet you didn't know the importance of an instant life flask and a logout macro. Even though I personally don't use the logout macro. That is  just because it's too unfair and it defeats the purpose of playing a hardcore character.

If you have dreams of trying out a new skill or a build in Gauntlet, it's not the right place because in Gauntlet, you have to follow the worst case scenario rule of having the worst items possible while playing certain skills that are extremely good for hardcore playstyle.

Another tip is that top players like Imexile always level multiple characters as a backup plan, which has several benefits like getting access to all the gems before unlocking Lily in Act 5. I mean Lily not DS Lily. Also, if you want to level up your characters more quickly, preparing enough POE Currency is also your best choice!

Once you get to Act 2, Einar is your best friend because best theory might be the best place where you can get the best leveling uniques like Quill Rain, Hrimsorrow Gloves and hundreds of other cool stuff, which you would normally consider as trash.

Make sure you're at least three levels about the danger zones, like Brutus, Innocence, Kitava and make sure you're always resist kept once you reach level 12. This can be achieved using the Crafting Bench in your Hideout

Priority for the items early on is always sockets and resistances. And movement speed is king in Gauntlet. Bleed is a very dangerous early on as Corrupting Blood is later on. Bleed Bow is pretty strong early on especially when monsters are hasted and they move too much another thing to note is that Gauntlet is an HCSSF, which means you will have to rely on the kindness of rare items and self-crafting if you want to know how to craft a plus 3 bow for your Explosive Arrow bow.
