POE 3.21: A Cheaper Version Of The Blade Trap Build

At the beginning of POE 3.21 Crucible League, I already made an extremely tanky Blade Trap build. Since the items gone up in price, so I came up with a much cheaper version.

Main Problem

Let’s start with the main problem: the Pyromanic, Forbidden Flame and Flesh Jewels.

You could purchase like 80 Chaos Orbs for both. But after it skyrocketed in price up to 20 Divine Orbs per piece. But, don’t worry, I found how to get almost the same amount regen, shock and ignite immunity in the build.

POE 3.21 Blade Trap Build With Lower Budget

Let’s start with the biggest problem: shock and ignite. The other reason is why the forbidden jewels are so good because you can get ignite and shock immunity, which is really important if you want to just stand still in a boss fight against Sirus or Eater of Worlds. Both boss has really high shock effect no matter how tanky are you. You can get like 50% increased damage taken from shock. When I was testing the budget options, in most of the time, I died to or almost died from the death beams. Sadly, I can’t just use the reduced shock effect, Pantheon or ring craft to reduce the shock effect. So, I need to find another way.

Luckily, I was playing in the meantime with my Pathfinder and I came to the conclusion: what if we just drop the Grace aura, which is giving us evasion? Because most of the time, the bosses are using spells, not attacks. So, the evasion is useless anyway, especially against Maven, Sirus, Eater of Worlds. We drop the Grace for Purity of Elements. This aura alone fixes every single problem we had with the ailments. A single aura was the solution to that. You can get shock and ignite immunity only this because we already chill and freeze immune. Thanks to the One Step Ahead node from Trickster and the Arctic Armour.

“Secret” Unique Amulet

Now, the other important defensive layer for our build is the high regen.

Sadly, swapping out the forbidden jewels, we lost 10% regen. But later, I found a secret unique amulet that helped me with the regen. And the amulet is Shaper’s Seed. This amulet solve almost all the regen issues, also giving us attributes and mana regen. They are actually what the build needs.

However, it only has 4% regen. This is why we have another super cheap and useful item.

Another Secret Unique For The Build

The item gives us energy shield, regen, even damage and no one guessed because maybe you not even know this item existing. So please welcome: Replica Inya’s Epiphany unique boots.

This item has everything that the build needs. Percent intelligence, life, damage per power charge, and the most important life regen per power charge. This pair of boots will give us 2% regen without any enhancement because you can get on this +2% life regen if you want to.

So, with very high “investment”: 1 Alchemy Orb amulet and 1 chaos boots. You can get 6% regen easily. I hope I blow your mind with these very simple solutions.

Other Problems And Solutions

There is another problem: (Gate Shine) Cluster Jewel with the right nodes.

Now, this jewel is only 5 Divine Orbs. What is the solution? Just remove the cluster and the use 14 passive points else. Because we changed Presence of Chayula to Shaper’s Seed. We have 2 new problems to fix:

First, the stun immunity. By default, the Stun Threshold is based on your life and we are reserving almost half of our life. We would be stunned every little hit we take even white sketelon in maps. So, we are taking Energy Shield Mastery: Stun Threshold is based on your energy shield instead of life. From now, we got almost stun immunity because the only hits that could stun us is the Shaper Slam or Sirus Meteor.

Second new problem: Also the Presence of Chayula is giving us Chaos Resistance, which is really important for our build if you want to tank the Sirus Meteor because that ability is a big chunk of chaos damage. So, we need to cap our Chaos Resistance in other ways. If your Chaos Resistance is under 70% and has the same amount of energy shield, you could die in the meteor. If you miss timing your Immortal Call or you hit damage taken reduction is not up from the Hearthstopper.

The Sacrifices Must Be Made

I want to talk about new issues with this setup. Sadly, we sacrificing too many things from the damage side and even from the movement speed. My damage from 600k got reduced to 300k.

But this does not mean the character is unplayable. I’m still completed Uber Maven, Shaper, Eater of Worlds. Uber Sirus just will take more time. Also, do not witness any Uber fight with Maven because it will be miserable. We have only 25% increased movement speed, so we are now truly a tank moving slowly.

Item Changes

Changes to the items: Presence of Chayula to Shaper’s Seed. The anointment is the same arcane focus. We swapped out Atziri’s Step to Replica Inya’s Epiphany.

I did not use any lab enhancement in the build. You can get 2 really good one: life regen if you got hit recently; (This can be going up 2%) or you can use penetrates elemental resistance if you haven’t killed recently. We have these two options and it’s up to you what you want.

I got a new ring because we need chaos resistance. I bought this at the league start for my starter and it fits to this character as well.

The other thing: we have a new belt to get strength to the build and extra energy shield. I crafted this with Essences. It was very easy, so you could also get something like that or even a better belt. Other things did not get any changes, so you can still use that items.

Pantheons And Bandits Even More Important!

Pantheons we are using: Major Soul of Solaris for bossing; if you just doing maps, you can use Soul of Lunaris; Minor Soul of Tukohama and you need to upgrade to get the regen from this Patnheon. This is now even more important because we need every single possible regen source that we can get. Bandits still have two passive points.

Passive Tree Changes

I just want to highlight new things on the passive tree that you need for the build.

As I mentioned earlier, we dropped the cluster setup and we also need to take a few new spell suppression nodes: Instinct and Resourcefulness because we do not use Atziri Step anymore. So, with this, we compensate for the loss from the boots.

The other big changes: we are traveling towards Melding for extra life and energy shield and take the jewel socket here. Also, we need to take the Energy Shield Mastery here. Stun Threshold is based on your energy shield instead of life.

Conclusion And What Went Wrong

I think I solved all the problems that the build have on lower budget. It was really hard to fit everything in and test out, but I like the challenge. Of course, if you have lots of POE Currency, this build will be better!

Also, I would like to mention, I only failed one single Uber Maven fight because I got too comfortable and I miss placed the bubbles that follow you around and left a degen zone and I got hit too many times from the “stand still ability” that disables the regen.

So, I just died from the degeneration. But the other fights were really doable, only exception the Uber Sirus fight because I was figuring out the shock and ignite immunity in the middle of the fight. But after the aura swap, it was smooth.
