Is Hinekora Death’s Fury Worth Trying In Path Of Exile 3.22? - My Personal Opinion

Sep 01, 2023

Many players who have followed know that my new season starting character is Flamewood Chieftain. But the character died unfortunately, so I had to re-roll. But for my re-rolled Righteous Fire build Ascendancy, I still chose Chieftain.

Though Juggernaut is Ascendancy of the superior Righteous Fire. But I’d still love to try Chieftain’s notable Ascendancy passive skill, Hinekora Death’s Fury. So here I want to talk about Hinekora Death’s Fury in this POE 3.22 league and discuss whether it’s worth trying after all.

High Explosion Damage

The first thing worth noting is its ability to provide explosive chances for massive fire damage. Even though its charm is a little low, I have to say that Hinekora is probably my favorite new Ascendancy passive skill.

Path of Exile: Hinekora Pops are Extremely Satisfying!

Its massive explosion can destroy everything within its radius. And the radius of this passive skill is much larger than ordinary explosion mods. So even though the chances are small, when it starts to cast, the impact can be huge. It just wipes out everything within the radius.

Ignite Chance

Since it’s raw fire damage, it can ignite. For this, you need to look for specific ignite chances. You can find many of these opportunities on passive trees.

Among them, there are 15% on Divine Judgment and 10% on Holy Dominion notable. Notably, they are located near the Templar star location. Also, 20% on Holy Fire next to Zealot’s Oath, and 30% on Breath of Flames at the top of the passive tree. Another 30% is on Searing Heat, near the one on the right.

These are almost ignite chance passives you’re probably close enough to reach. Searing Heat might be a bit of a stretch if you want a Righteous Fire build or some sort of spell-based Ignite build. Of course, this gives some extra ignite chance and some gear modifiers like Betrayal craft for fire damage and Ignite.

But Hinekora’s explosion can provide a powerful Ignite. Whenever a tanky mob or boss joins in, it explodes and wipes out rare creatures with a giant Ignite. You can clear the screen in a short time and quickly harvest POE Currency.

To be honest, I haven’t really had too many problems with Hinekora so far. It’s enough that it consistently provides an enjoyable map experience. Because, as I mentioned, when it happens, the explosion literally destroys everything in its radius, and it’s a massive explosion.

Vaal Breach Or Writhing Jar Synergy

Also, I should mention that you can use this passive with other POE items like Vaal Breach or Writhing Jar. Vaal Breach is a Support Gem that causes monsters to breach. Monsters will swarm over the boss, and possibly explode a bunch of these mobs, dealing massive damage to the boss.

This Writhing Jar produces two Worms each time it is used. This Worm has about 25,000 health in a level 83 area, so the explosion itself does about 125,000 fire damage. It causes approximately 112000 Ignite damage per second.

The generic damage modifier apparently scaled this. But you can easily make this Ignite do a million or more damage per second, so it’s pretty important. Whenever one of these explosions causes Ignite, it wiped the mob out.

For a build that wasn’t really focused on Ignite, the damage from this blast could be pretty severe. For example, like Righteous Fire build, it gets Ignite from Fire Trap. But its damage effect is negligible in comparison.

Final Thoughts

Regardless, if you’re on the fence about Ignite, then I definitely recommend giving it a try. It’s a lot of fun, and probably my favorite new Ascendancy passive skill.

GGG has now fixed many bugs, including the interaction bug with Flamewood Support checking accuracy is gone. They’ve also made a ton of improvements to the league mechanics.

Overall, what are your thoughts on Hinekora Death’s Fury? Do you think this new Ascendancy is worth trying? I can’t wait to hear your thoughts. See you next time!
